The “Touring Cat” emphasizes groomed conditions at top-notch touring centers optionally interspersed with mild scenic backcountry skiing;
The “Wild Cat” is the original wilderness inn to inn ski along the Catamount Trail, and is recommended for experienced backcountry skiers/snowshoers who enjoy breaking new trail.
We are now offering our popular Catamount Excursion in two distinct formats:
Maps are provided each day. Trips can be arranged from three to six nights by adding other inns near touring centers or adding additional nights at the inns already in the package.
Winter in Vermont offers a variety of trails for skiing and snowshoeing, from fairly easy, groomed surfaces at Nordic cross-country ski centers at or near our inns, to the ungroomed, and often unbroken, backcountry trails that run between them.
You’ll stay at several country inns that offer a variety of winter experiences: Blueberry Hill Inn, Churchill House Inn, and Fox Creek Inn. Each innkeeper on our self-guided program will help you choose daily activities that are just right for you. We’ll also provide you with options you may choose while staying at each of the inns. Guided tours are easily arranged: call or e-mail us if you would like to discuss arranging a guided trip custom-designed for your group.
Whether you select our popular “Touring Cat” or the original experience-required “Wild Cat,” you may expect the same cozy accommodations, congenial company, and excellent cuisine that are hallmarks of our unique Vermont country inns; flexible point-to-point skiing; and, always, fresh air and options to suit your tastes and skiing abilities.
